Application for the 2026–2027 School Year

The Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation (CPFF Foundation) is proud to offer the Randall Atkinson Scholarship Program, established in honor of longtime CPFF leader and mentor Randall Atkinson.

For the 2026–2027 academic year, the Foundation will award ten (10) one-time scholarships of $5,000 to eligible students pursuing higher education.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following qualifications:

• The applicant’s parent, guardian, or grandparent (or active retired) must be a member in good standing of the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters.
• Applicants must be entering an institution of higher education (junior college, college, university, or technical/trade school) in the Fall of 2026 or Spring of 2027. The applicant may also be a current student of an institution of higher education.

Application Materials

Applicants must submit this application along with:

• Resume
• High school or college transcripts
• Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
• A 1–2 page essay addressing the following topic (500 - 1000 words)

Growing up with a firefighter in the family shapes a person in ways that few other experiences can — through sacrifice, pride, uncertainty, and a deep sense of purpose. Reflect on what it has meant to have a parent or grandparent serve as a Colorado firefighter.

Submission & Process

1. The application, resume, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and essay must be combined into a single.pdf document and submitted electronically to cpfffoundationscholarship@gmail.com. Applications notsubmitted as a single .pdf document will be disqualified.
2. The top 15 candidates will be required to participate in an interview with CPFF Foundation Board Members to determine the final award recipients. Interviews will take place in October via Zoom.
