I have so many people to thank for being a part of and supporting my Make-A-Wish Colorado benefit concert on April 24 in honor and memory of my Dad, Gary Stameisen. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to EVERY SINGLE person who donated money, silent auction items, shared any of my posts and/or bought tickets. Thank you to our sponsors this year: Denver Metro OMS | Oral, Facial & Implant surgery who gave us a $5,000 match…which we have met and exceeded. Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation – I’m proud to serve on the board. Corner Bakery Cafe for donating 10% the proceeds to the fundraiser at all five locations. Thank you Southern Wine & Spirits for being our exclusive wine sponsor. Slacker and Steve, Alice 105.9, 9NEWS (KUSA) Thank you John Lindsay & Hard Rock Cafe Denver for all that you do each and every year to make this so successful. Thank you Heidi Browne, Stella & Dot Independent Stylist for the donation and helping me so much with auction items. Thank you to all who donated silent auction items: Ashlee Rink, POSH….The Salon, Ella Bliss Beauty Bar, Colorado Rockies, Revitalize Massage Therapy, Jamie C Atlas at Bonza Bodies, Ferrari, Bentley & Lotus of Denver Dr. Michelle Cardel, PhD, RD, 4th Avenue Family Dentistry DDS, Loveland Ski Area and Johnny Hoang at Ready Fit Go. Thank you to my wonderful and very understanding husband, Josh Cavan. We raised over $24,000 (more than double our goal!) for two very deserving kids, Team Colton Hunt and Jayden. It couldn’t have been done with out all your help!
THE KIDS AND THE GOAL: This was the fifth year for my benefit concert and we went big!!! $10,000 was the goal and we more than doubled it! It will be divided into two parts. The first will be for six year old, Jayden. He has lymphoid leukemia. His wish is to go on a Disney Cruise with his family. He says, “because I’ve never been on a ship and I watch the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.” He’s adorable! His family is so excited to be apart of this and have Jayden be our Wish Child this year.
The other half will go to Colton Hunt and his family. I love this boy and his family to the moon and back and they deserve something to go their way for once. Colton was born with Down Syndrome. Then, three days after his third birthday, we was diagnosed with Leukemia. He went through two-and-a-half years of intense chemo, went into remission, only to have the cancer return after a few months. The chemo the second time around did not work. So, he was approved to be part of a new cell therapy treatment study at the National Institute of Health in Maryland. It’s a $1 million treatment and Colton and his family have to stay for weeks for treatment and results. Half of what is raised will be given to the Hunt family to help them with all their travel and medical expenses.
As many of you know, I lost my Dad and best friend, Gary Stameisen four years ago. We was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia at the young age of 57 and died six months later. He was a firefighter for 32 years and doctors attribute his blood cancer to the workforce. Ever since then, I have put on a benefit concert at the Hard Rock Cafe where we raise money for one Colorado child fighting Leukemia/Lymphoma.
Thank you, thank you!
